What is web design ?
Web design is the procedure for creating websites. It encompasses several distinct elements, including webpage layout, content production, and graphic design. While the provisions web design and web-development are frequently used interchangeably, web design is a subset of the wider group of web development.
Internet sites are made using a markup language called HTML. Web designers build pages using HTML tags which specify the content and meta data of each page. The design and appearance of these elements in just a webpage are typically defined using CSS, or cascading stylesheets. Therefore, most sites include a blend of HTML and CSS that defines the way each page will appear at a browser.
Some web designers like to hand code pages (scanning HTML and CSS from scratch), while others use a"WYSIWYG" editor like Adobe Dreamweaver. Such a editor provides a visual interface for designing the webpage layout and the program automatically creates the corresponding HTML and CSS code. Another popular means to design sites is with a content management system like WordPress or Joomla. These services provide different website templates that may be used as a startingpoint for a new site. Web-masters may subsequently add articles and customize the design working with an internet interface.
While HTML and CSS are used to style the appearance and feel of a website, graphics needs to be generated separately. Therefore, graphicdesign can overlap with web design, since graphic artists often create pictures for use on the Web.
