Our story

Unboxing History, One Pixel at a Time.

Technology moves fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you might miss it.

We live in a world of disposable tech. Every year, a new rectangle of glass is released, and the previous one is forgotten in a drawer. But at Shaboxes, we believe that every device tells a story.

We are the Archive of Digital Nostalgia.

The Story of Shaboxes

Shaboxes was born in the wild west of the early mobile internet.
Back in the early 2000s, the mobile web was a different place. It was the era of WAP browsers, 160-character limits, and paying $3 for a polyphonic ringtone. In those days, Shaboxes served as a hub for digital content, wallpapers, java games, and sounds.

But just like the phones we cover, we evolved.

Today, Shaboxes has pivoted from a download hub to a digital museum and modern review site. We don’t just look back; we look forward, using our history to understand where technology is going next.

What We Do

The Retro Vault

We document the devices that defined a generation. The satisfying click of a BlackBerry trackball. The indestructibility of a Nokia. The chaos of early Android.

Modern Unboxing

We review the latest gadgets with a critical eye. We look past the marketing hype to tell you if that new case, charger, or phone is actually worth your money.

App Culture

Software defines our hardware. We explore the apps, launchers, and tools that let you take control of your digital life.

Freelance Life

Helping others in the path of a creative career. Finding your niche and balancing the hustle with rest.

Meet the Archivist

Simon Box Editor-in-Chief & Lead Archivist

I am a tech enthusiast who refuses to let the past die. I grew up modding Sony Ericssons and flashing custom ROMs on HTC phones.

I created the new Shaboxes because I was tired of tech sites that only care about the “next big thing.” I wanted a place that respected the “old big thing” too.

When I’m not writing, I’m scouring eBay for vintage tech or trying to explain to my friends why wired headphones are still superior to Bluetooth.
